About this deal

We are so thrilled to present to you… THE SHATTER ME DELUXE SET, brought to you in collaboration with @ tahereh and @ electricmonkeybooks!

these books will make you feel a lot of emotions and will make you care for the characters and for the plot. Kenji, Juliette's BFF, is a high spirited jokester. He keeps things light when everything around him seems to be doomed. While his character is displayed as mostly surface level antics he is a deeply empathetic person who struggles with his emotions. My favorite book in the series was Defy Me where the author discloses some mind-boggling truths that change the entire perspective of Aaron and Juliette's life.

First, I want to say that I don’t judge you if you like these books. If you have read this series when you were younger and formed an attachment to them, I understand. We all have our vices. This review is for anyone who has not read them yet—anyone older than 18. Unravel Me: Kinda hated Juliette in the first half, Kenji is the MVP, Warner is the King, and Adam.. well he threw a bunch of tantrum, and I hayed that too.

I still think the writing at the beginning of the book was intriguing and clever, the issue is Mafi dropped the charade too easily. Juliette, in all rights, should be insane, or at the very least, she should have severe PTSD and attachment issues. She had zero healthy relationships as a kid, she didn't get the motherly nurturing and physical affection children need, she didn't have friends to develop social skills, she was in solitary confinement without seeing another human for almost an entire year—as a TEENAGER. She had to shower in the dark and eat gross food. I assumed, since it was so played up at the beginning of the first book, that she was going to have mental health struggles. Like her sanity would genuinely come into question. I thought that was going to be one of her obstacles. It really wasn’t. And maybe Mafi planned on fleshing out her mental problems in the later books. Perhaps her fleeing with Adam completely unprecedented was a form of attachment issues (even though she hardly remembered the guy and they never even talked, but yeah sure, they’re in love). If she had stayed true to her original writing I would have liked the books better, but she dropped the originality for something generic. It became superfluous and distracting. Juliette has never fought for herself before. But when she's reunited with the one person who ever cared about her, she finds a strength she never knew she had. Shadow Me: Kenji's perspective. The everything-is-cheerful-when-he's-around guy of the series.. has a dark secret?

Reveal Me: SPOILER Kenji and Nazeera moments woooh. cliffhanger that makes the final book unpredictable. The characters are dry. Warner is the only character I cared to read, but even then I don’t see how he’s being fawned over. He calls Juliette ‘love’ and has a good sense of fashion. That’s it. If I could sum up this entire review it would be that Mafi wrote these books solely for Warner. You can feel it in the writing. She tried to make the other characters interesting, but failed. But it’s okay because everyone who reads these books are only in it for Warner anyway.
