I am really looking forward to reading more about the world of the Magicals and I want to know more about the Purge. So yes HP has definitely "inspired" the story, but when you put those elements aside there really is no comparison. Each book represents a chapter in the broader narrative, introducing new twists, turns, and perhaps the occasional talking dragon (disclaimer: dragons depend on the genre).
